Proven in the country that tells the truth.
Selection begins with useful cattle and is sharpened through high-altitude performance, ranch conditions, and measured feed efficiency.
Walden, Colorado
High-country pasture tests adaptability, fertility, and soundness where elevation and weather leave little room for weakness.
Cattle from the Berry program have summered in the Walden country and have been PAP tested to help identify genetics suited for elevation. They travel, breed, and maintain themselves under conditions that reward functional cattle.
That experience supports selection for good feet, athletic movement, strong udders, disposition, and the ability to stay productive through wind, snow, and demanding range conditions.
Berry Herefords
Our home ranch sits at 6,000 feet, low rain fall, short grass country. Northeast of Cheyenne, cattle must work for a living. The ranch is where pedigrees and numbers meet everyday stockmanship.

SAREC

The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center adds individual feed-intake and performance data to the selection process.
GrowSafe testing measures individual intake, average daily gain, feed conversion, and Residual Feed Intake. RFI helps compare efficiency independently of animal size, giving commercial cattlemen another useful tool when evaluating bulls.
The numbers do not replace visual appraisal or ranch performance. They strengthen a balanced decision built around soundness, maternal value, adaptability, and pounds produced efficiently.
